Notice Regarding Shipping to Germany, France, and Spain

To our valued international riding community:

Effective immediately, Koup's Cycle Shop is suspending all direct retail shipments to Germany, France, and Spain.

This difficult decision is a direct result of the European Union’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws and the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Under these regulations, international e-commerce sellers are legally classified as the "producers" of packaging waste. To ship directly to consumers in these countries, retailers are required to maintain separate national packaging registrations (such as the LUCID registry in Germany), appoint local Authorized Representatives in each destination country, and file detailed environmental compliance reports regarding packaging weight and materials.

Furthermore, upcoming PPWR rules impose strict physical limits on e-commerce shipping, including a mandate that boxes contain no more than 50% empty space. Because powersports gear—from Shoei helmets to armored riding jackets—requires specific, robust packaging to ensure it arrives safely without damage, modifying our global logistics and inventory of shipping supplies to meet the distinct physical and administrative requirements of individual EU member states is simply not feasible for our operations.

While we would love to continue equipping riders in these regions, the administrative burden, regulatory risks, and associated costs of these highly localized environmental mandates make it impossible to maintain the level of service and value our customers expect.

We sincerely appreciate the support of our European customers over the years and apologize for this disruption. We will continue to monitor EU cross-border trade policies and will re-evaluate this decision if unified, streamlined compliance options become available for independent international retailers.
